265 Days

According to timeanddate.com, 8 months and 23 days have passed since my last published blog post on this site. This is 265 days, which is roughly 37 weeks, which is about 6,360 hours, or 381,600 minutes, or 22,896,000 seconds.

I have begun other blog posts in that time, 3 to be precise, I just haven't finished them. So they sit in the "draft" bin, along with 27 others since March 26, 2005 (that was 1,698 days ago, by the way... or 4 years, 7 months, and 23 days). They sit, waiting for those sources I couldn't find a good link to, or that book I couldn't remember, or for me to find the right words for a particular argument, or the time in which to complete them.

They are about everything from possible immigration consequences for pro athletes who admit using performance enhancing drugs, to the health care debate, to my predictions during the 2006 FIFA World Cup (I can probably just delete that one), to the conclusion of the "U.S. v. Treaty Law" series, and obituaries for Richard Pryor and Rosa Park (those last three have been in the draft bin since 2005).

November 18 is not included in the 265 day calculation, so this is actually being posted on the 266th day since my last published post. The 266th day of the year is September 23. Notable events of September 23rd include the Concordat of Worms (1122), the discovery of Neptune (1826) (maybe), the "Grito de Lares" in Puerto Rico (1868), the return of Juan Perón to power (1973), and the joining of the United Nations by Saint Kitts and Nevis (1983). September 23 also saw the births of Euripides (480 B.C.), Augustus Caesar (63 B.C.), John Coltrane (1926), Ray Charles (1930), Julio Iglesias (1943), Bruce Springsteen (1949), Joba Chamberlain (1986) and Juan Martín del Potro (1988); and the deaths of Jose Artigas (1850), Sigmund Freud (1939), Pablo Neruda (1973), and Bob Fosse (1987).

It is now just past 1:15 a.m., C.S.T. on November 18, 2009. Since I got home from fencing practice I have been working on various pleadings and filings and have court in DuPage County in a few hours, so I will be going to sleep in minute, but I suppose I just wanted to write something because it's been a while, and with everything going on in the world these days, I should probably start writing on this thing again...
